Dear Friends, dear Clients,
I hope this letter finds you very well now that summer is truly upon us.
As I mentioned in a previous mail, Galerie Cahn will be continuing a long family tradition of auctions (indeed a tradition beginning several generations ago in Frankfurt, as I describe in the video below). As circumstances of the modern period permit and increasingly necessitate, we will be launching a series of online auctions through LiveAuctioneers, a well-known global platform.
The first auction goes live this evening. As we experiment with this new approach and technology, this first offering will present over seventy lots boasting solid provenance, modest reserves, and which I have only rarely presented in the past. I have titled it “Young Collectors,” reflecting an old Basel tradition.
This will be a timed auction, allowing you to bid online over the course of the next two weeks concluded by a session of live bidding at 18:00 (Basel time) on the 7th of July.
Further auctions will take place over the course of the Autumn, with the next planned for early September with a more ambitious offering, featuring nearly one-hundred important works of sculpture, vases, and jewelry.
We wish to make this a personalized and exciting experience for you. The gallery will be open for viewings at your convenience, by appointment. As a special service, we would be delighted to connect with you via Zoom or WhatsApp so that we may sit together in front of an artwork and discuss it, even if remotely.
As ever it would be a delight to hear from you, and I do hope you will consider registering to bid for the current sale.
